This material, known for its strength and fine structure, is well-suited for this purpose due to its density and hardness, which are far superior to most woods. It is a by-product of the zebu, a type of cattle that is not at all endangered, living freely in its natural environment.
Malgasy artisans practise their ancestral craft, heating the horn to shape it as desired. Each pair of utensils is therefore unique. Due to the natural variation in the colour and tone of the material, each product has its own unique colour variation, and the photo is only an indication.
